Overview

It is clear from announcements around the world, claims of green credentials and carbon pledges need to be backed up by recognised international standards. But which standard and how?

It has been announced that PAS2060 is to be superseded by a new international standard of ISO14068 for carbon neutrality claims.

PAS2060 is not valid after 2025 and so anyone starting this journey to verification after December 2024 needs to take the new ISO route instead. This has happened just as Net Zero as a message seems also to be superseding that of carbon neutrality.

So, what are the differences between PAS2060 and the new ISO14068 and should your focus be on carbon neutrality and offsets or Net Zero planning using ISO14064/1 and science-based targets. We will get under the detail of what the update means and what the different paths give in advantages an disadvantages so that companies can make an informed choice.
